Disaster Preparedness

Solana Beach School District (SBSD) will:
  1. Provide a safe, orderly and secure environment conducive to learning.

  2. Create schools in which students will attend regularly and be safe from both physical and social-psychological harm.

  3. Work collaboratively to establish and use strategies and programs to comply with school safety laws.

  4. Develop a plan to work cooperatively and collaboratively with parents, students and teachers, administrators, counselors and community agencies including law enforcement, to provide a safe and orderly school and neighborhood.

  5. Solicit the participation, views, and advice of teachers, parents, school administrators, and community members and use this information to promote the safety of our students, staff and community.

Awareness and preparation for any disaster is of utmost importance. By knowing about the disaster, and the steps that should be taken, the effects of the disaster can be reduced. Knowing how to prepare for a disaster, how to deal with it and how to recover from it is the key. American National Red Cross has created a web page in 14 different languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, Farsi, French, Hmong, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Lao, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, and Vietnamese) for disaster preparedness.

The County of San Diego Office of Emergency Services has developed a Family Disaster Plan, Personal Survival Guide, and various DVD for disaster preparedness.
